The inhomogeneity of the physical state of soils is examined as a complex form of agrogenic degradation of arable chernozems. From the perspective of this concept, the key element of the inhomogeneity of the physical state of arable chernozems is considered to be the degradation of the chernozem aggregate structure associated with dehumification materialized in the reduction of the self-regulation, self-reproduction, and self-organization capacity of the physical subsystem of chernozems. This entails two opposite genetic-evolutionary trends - aridic and neohydromorphic - of the evolution of arable chernozems. In arable chernozems, the physical state of the soils determines the meaning and intensity of chernozem typogenetic processes and the ratio between these and the agrogenetic processes induced by the inclusion and use of chernozems in the agricultural regime. The degradation of the physical state of soils leads to significant changes in the pedogenetic and pedofunctional regimes and involves the disruption of the relationships and interactions between native and agrogenic processes, materialized in the reduction of the self-production capacity of chernozem pedogenesis and the development of a new form of degradation - the spatial non-homogeneity of the physical state of arable chernozems. Seasonal overwetting is replaced by periodic overwetting (moistened chernozem soil) and subsequently permanent with permanent overwetting (wet chernozem and chernozemoid soils).
